CCCAC’s Party with the Arts and gallery receptions, November 13 6-8pm
HANCOCK, MI – The Copper Country Community Arts Council Board of Directors invites everyone to Party with the Arts on Thursday, November 13 from 6-8pm. The event will feature live music by Bob Hiltunen, refreshments, and a silent auction. Locally made art items will be up for bid including jewelry, wood, pottery, photographs, fiber arts, and paintings. There will also be an opportunity to renew membership, join for the first time, or learn how to get involved as a volunteer.
The CCCAC is celebrating three new exhibitions. The Shaft is a community exhibition of art inspired by mining on display in the Kerredge Gallery through December 5th. The public is invited to cast their vote for their favorite piece in The Shaft. Public choice awards will be announced at the end of the show. On display in the Youth Gallery is Northern Woods which was an open call to all youth under 18 to create work about their favorite outdoor place in the Upper Peninsula. Fifty-five young artists have work on display through November 29. The third exhibition is 60 Tiny Galleries, also an open call to artists to create works of art to fit 3X5X12 inch drawers in a card catalog cabinet located in the CCCAC classroom. Thirty-six artists have installed or sent work for installation. Many are local artists but some are from beyond our community including artists from Alaska, Maine, South Carolina, Texas, Wisconsin and France.
The CCCAC is a non-profit organization supported in part by state and local grants as well as this community through membership dues, fundraising events, and the sale of art. The Copper Country Community Arts Center is located at 126 Quincy Street in Hancock. For more information call (906) 482 2333 or visit the website www.coppercountryarts.com
