Hello,

Don't get me wrong, I want to help the community if anyone is interested. I have hosting business that I own so it can host either Gallery 2/3 and it has all features to meet the requirements to run.

The server will be running on latest PHP 7 with latest patch updates and running on pure NGINX server. No more worries or hassles so anyone can have their own gallery up running in no time.

If you feel this should be allowed, I'll be honor to help anyone who needs it.

Thanks.

Josh,

We don't have any had rule here against the occasional mention of a hosting service -- particularly if someone asks for hosting recommendations or has an identified server problem. But such posting should be limited, since this is a purely  technical support group +composed of existing Gallery users who offer what help we can to each other other as needed. While we are certainly willing to assist someone installing Gallery 3 for the first time,  chances are they won't contact us until they already have a hosting platform and installed at least Gallery 3.0.9 -- and the Gallery setup procedure for a new installation is pretty much automatic. Even if they have the old Gallery 3.0.9 installed, it's a simple matter to upgrade 3.0.9 to Gallery 3.1.3 with no "migration" hassles necessary.

The main requests for help we have been getting here for the past year is from people who were stubbornly clinging to Gallery 2 for the past 9 years instead of moving to Gallery 3 long ago. Nine years ago the original Gallery Development Group announced way back in 2012 that there would be no more updates to Gallery 2  -- so there was plenty of time for people to migrate to Gallery 3. But some chose not to make the move and now find themselves forced to switch to Gallery 3.1.3 because their hosting companies are now insisting all hosting accounts must use on PHP 7+

For most of these folks, this sad situation is suddenly made worse because they waited until their old Gallery 2 installation completely stopped working when their server was moved to PHP7 -- making it impossible to use the difficult-but-still functioning "migration" module to move their Gallery 2 images into Gallery 3 directly -- leaving only a single time-consuming option do it now if they want to continue to use Gallery at all.

Even if someone finds a way to hack Gallery 2.3.2 to run under PHP 7 -- it will still be nine year old code. Gallery 3 code  -- and importantly, many of the extension modules --were officially maintained until 2014, and two years ago Brad began updating it for PHP 7. So even if a Gallery 2 hack works, it won't work for long, particularly as the hosting servers are rapidly moving to use PHP 7.4 (which Gallery 3.1.3 works fine on ) and going forward they will be going to PHP 8 within the next 2 or 3 years.

Bottom Line: Gallery 2 is dead. Has been for almost 10 years now. People need to go with Gallery 3.1.3 or find another photo gallery program to use.
