I see the coversations on here are not up to date. My gallery 3 was hacked and we've been working on restoring photos but apparently the program is damaged. Can anyone give us some advice on how to fix that. Our IT guy is helping to get this up and running again so any help would be appreciated.

Diana,

This seems to be a different story from the one you posted here a few days ago. I'm still researching what's currently available as a replacement for your not-working gallery. But if what you say now is the case -- that your gallery has been hacked -- I'm afraid it is unlikely anyone in the group can be of much help via email -- the variables on what kind of damage has been done are just too many possibilities to sort out. The good news is that if you still have cpanel access to where your non-working gallery is installed, it should be possible for your tech guy to pull all of your images out of the folder where they are stored and download them so that you will have them in hand and can then upload them to another photo gallery app.

I will be easiest if the IT Guy sets the system to use PHP 7.4 and reinstall Gallery 3 to the latest version available and import the photos that should be retrievable.

It would be possible to guide you and those assisting to do this procedure. Start with a fresh slate which makes the trouble shooting easier.

What is happening when your Gallery is queried by a browser? Just a blank white page or the Oops Something Went Wrong message?

Erik,

It's great that you're willing to help Diana with this thorny issue. Since this type of question comes up two or tree times a year on this list if you could keep us posted here about what steps are taken and how things went then I would keep those messages in a separate file so that I could send them along to anyone in the future who hits this same snag. Thanks!
