IMPORTANT UPDATE: The current release is now version 3.1.2 -- everyone should install or upgrade to 3.1.2 (see galleryrevival.com )

This discussion thread will remain in place because there is plenty of helpful information here. I just heard from Bharat, who has already updated the home page at galleryproject.org with the latest information about our support group here. As the last active member of the old Gallery development team, Bharat has given an "official" stamp to Brad Dutton's 3.1.2 release of Gallery3. This is a milestone: For first time in over 6 years -- since June of 2014 -- the old galleryproject.org website has exciting news featured at the top of the home page, replacing the previous "Gallery is going into hibernation" headline which has been brooding on that page for all these years. Here's what it says:

Gallery development is continuing!

Good news!

Brad Dutton has been leading a community that is continuing Gallery development. He and his team have made progress over the past year and have a stable version of Gallery 3 that is PHP 7+ compatible, contains a replacement for the old Flash-based image uploader, an updated jQuery Library and other features. They've been testing it for a year now with no problems and have released it as Gallery 3.1.0.

You can download it from galleryrevival.com
You can get help in their forums

Congratulations (and a zillion thanks) to Brad for getting the ball over the line -- and to everyone who helped with development and testing the 3.10 release! And to Beo who started this group to fill a critical need back in 2015 and keeping this forum going.

The next steps I will be following up on:

Get the auto-installers which so many hosting companies now use put the 3.1.0 release into  their "one touch installation" systems so new users don't end up installing the obsolete 3.0.9 thinking it is still the latest release. And I need to get SourceForge to update their Gallery 3 download page. I'm not really sure how to do either of those things so if anyone has any pointers on that let me know.

Hey J.R.,

Thanks for taking the lead on this and working with Bharat to get the update on galleryproject.org.  Good going!

Beo

Glad I found yall again; HUGE Thank You & Congrats on the newest update - great job !! - I haven't installed it yet or updated mine yet - our original g3 is still holding up like a champ, I was worried how I was going to fix flash installer though, lol, great job on fixing that !!  I was going to convert to server upload if all else failed - I had fun last year migrating our sbgallery from old server to new server -  first time migrating - had almost 10,000 images,  got over 8,000 rest used server add to get.

If anyone would like to see what we've got set up http://sbgallery.freebyrdsadvertising.net/index.php/   it's not fancy but works great for what we use it for - I did have to disable HTML5 Upload Progress module to go up to PhP 6 with g3 - running greydragon dark mode - it's pretty much mobile friendly on med - to lrg screens & tablets - I don't have video ability on it - only gif - it's held up 5 yrs or lil over (and survived a rookie migrating it)

We've got a huge virtual charity coming up in 2 months, so I'm holding off on updating our current gallery since it holds all of our property textures & event banners - until then I can setup a new fresh 3.1 to play with until event is over then update it.

HUGE Thank You  for all the hard work to revive G3  & GREAT JOB !!

     - someone stated once gallery 3 was built like a tank - thanks to the hard work it's still kickin n ready to push on :)

Harley...

Can you get me a copy of that greydragon theme?  I've been looking all over for a copy of it.

Jeffrey,

I have the last official version 3.2.2 release of the greydragon module and theme -- two separate items and you need both for greydragon to work. They can be found at private location I've created:

https://dotsdaily.com/g3mod/

After you've downloaded and unpacked them and put them in the correct G3 folders, I strongly urge going to the extensive greydragon installation, details and features page at the old gallery codex. Even though it has not been updated in many years, it is still an excellent guide to installing and using greydragon:

Harley (and Jeffrey),

As Gallery sometimes says, "Dang... something went wrong". This time with my brain. I originally provided the wrong links to the greydragon module and theme. Here they are again. As noted before, the greydragon module must be activated from the admin dashboard before the actual grey dragon theme can be activated. So there are two different links:

http://thepostalzone.com/g3greydragon/greydragon-module.zip

http://thepostalzone.com/g3greydragon/greydragon-theme.zip

The theme is version 3.2.2 -- the last 'official 'release in 2012. If the links above don't work, please let me know. My server people keep fiddling with security settings...

Also as before, there is plenty of good info on using greydragon at:

The link to the greydragon theme I posted is for version 3.2.2 -- the last version released (in 2012) before the Gallery Development Team went into hibernation. It's the version I use. But I did find a version 4.02 of the greydragon theme released by the author, Serge, on March 30, 2014. I have not tested it, but I'm including a link to it for the sake of completeness. I plan to test it at some point and will let people know what I discover. If someone else tries it first, please let us know how it does:
