Quite a while back, I migrated stuff from Gallery 2 to Gallery 3. I
noticed recently that a bunch of thumbnails are missing, and clicking on
the broken thumbnail image brings up another broken image icon. Looking in
/var/albums, I see these were gif images. Is there a suggestion on getting
this to work?

THANKS!

Harold

My understanding is that G3 can handle ".gif" files without issue.

The fact both your thumbnails and actual/original images are also broken (you say clicking the thumbmail also has the issue) would imply that the files aren't where the database expects them to be, or access permissions (typically in .htaccess or via chmod) have blocked G3 from reading them.

What happens if you create a new album and upload a pic?   Or is it only some which are failing?

I agree that Gallery 3 can handle gif files, having just added one as a test. It is possible that the migration from Gallery 2 somehow missed the gif files as the other images on the website link sent are working fine. May be worth running the Fix your Gallery via the Admin / Maintenance menu to see if that fixes the issue.

David Armstrong.

Thanks! I also tried Fix Your Gallery, and that did not fix it. I'll pull
those gif images from var add them back again.

Harold,

If you're going to be pulling the broken gif images from var anyway, try converting a few of them to .jpg format and adding the .jpg versions back into the var instead (and remove the .gif versions, of course). Then run maintenance/rebuild images again and see if they appear properly.
