Hi all
My Gallery pages was set up for me years ago by a friend and then I was able to have the latest version also added to my website. The latest Gallery was set up in 2021 and it seems to work fine however there is this message: 'Some of your modules are out of date. Upgrade now!' at the top of the Gallery page after I log in. Are the modules really necessary to upgrade? I just using the Gallery to upload pictures to on occasion. Terrified to actually click thru as I have no idea where that would take me and what to do with the upgrades(do they automatically know where to upgrade to etc etc.
Cheers
Kim

That message appears when the version of the module currently installed (the version showing when you list the modules from the admin menu - the same version number that's stored in the database) is lower than the one in the file modules/modulename/module.info.

Clicking on the upgrade option runs the module's upgrade routine as defined in modules/module_name/helpers/modulename_installer.php.

You cold look in that (very small) file and see the "static function upgrade($version)" function.  Usually it does nothing more than update the version number in the database, if it exists at all.

I'm 95% sure it's safe to click and nothing will happen apart from making the message go away :)

Kim,

If your current Gallery is working the way you want it to right now, then no, you do not actually "need" to update any modules. In fact, there is no longer any kind of automatic "upgrade" of modules -- you have to do each one manually. To make it more problematic, many modules have been abandoned and there is no update available. Since you only use Gallery occassionally and if it is working fine as it is now, just ignore any upgrade messages.
