Mr. Johnny C. Cox

Memorial services for Mr. Johnny C. Cox, age 61, of Flintville, TN, who passed away Monday, October 5, 2009 at the Lincoln Medical Center, will be conducted Thursday, October 8, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Faith Church in Florence, AL with Pastor Henry Melton officiating. Mr. Cox was a native of Arlington, California, the son of the late Johnnie James & Lois M. Watts Cox. He was a Navy Submarine Corpman Senior Chief and he retired after 22 years service. He was awarded 4 Purple Hearts. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Thompson, Georgia. Mr. Cox is survived by his wife: Florrie Cox of Flintville, TN; daughter: Misti K. & Jason Cooper and their children: Tyler & Kayli of Manchester, TN; sons: Jeramy James & Becky Kunkel and children: Chandler & Makenzy of North Lake, TX, Johnny Carlton & Jennifer Cox, II and children: Jaiden & Justin of Killen, AL; sister: Janice Reeves of Arizona and brother: James Cox of California.

Mrs. Barbara Abel

Funeral services for Mrs. Barbara Abel, age 71, of Fayetteville, TN, who passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2009, at her residence, will be conducted Sunday, October 11, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. graveside in Blanche Cemetery with Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Abel was a native of Egypt, Arkansas, the daughter of the late Grover Cleveland Price and the late Grace Maria Cline Price. She was a pet groomer. Survivors include her husband: Robert Abel of Fayetteville, TN; son: Rob Abel & wife: Freda of Fayetteville, TN; granddaughters: Krista Renee Abel, Megan Marie Abel both of Fayetteville, TN and sisters: Marsha Knox of Texas and Rosa Lee Hayes of Arkansas. Visitation with the family will be Sunday morning from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home.

Mr. Rufus Taylor

Funeral services for Mr. Rufus A. Taylor, age 89, who passed away Friday, October 09, 2009 at the Lincoln Medical Center, will be conducted Sunday, October 11, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home with Ron Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in Frame Cemetery. Mr. Taylor was a lifelong resident of the Champ Community, the son of the late James Robert & Mary Cordelia Deal Taylor. He was a farmer and a member of the Lois Church of Christ. Along with his parents, Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by a sister: Jean Parks; brother: Herman Taylor and a nephew: James Moody. Survivors include nieces: Rosemary Moody, Susan Moody, Jeannie Grant & husband: Joe, Teresa Jackson all of Belvidere, TN; great nieces: Bonnie Hasty & husband: Troy, Andrea Howard & husband: Daniel; great-great nieces: Taylor Hasty and Amber Hastings and great-great nephew: Levi Howard all of Belvidere, TN. Visitation with the family will be Saturday evening from 5 until 8 p.m. at the Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home.

Mr. Mahlon G. Thrasher

Funeral services for Mr. Mahlon Gene Thrasher, age 77, who passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at the Lincoln Medical Center, will be conducted Thursday, Oct. 15, 2009 at 5:00 p.m. Graveside at the Carter Hills Cemetery with Rev. Willard Medley officiating. Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Thrasher was a native of Lincoln County; son of the late Erskin & Gertie Jones Thrasher; he was a farmer; & a member of the Coldwater United Methodist Church. Survivors include: Brother: Jerry & Wife Doris Thrasher of Fayetteville; Nieces: Fayetta & Husband Bobby Poteete of Howell Community & Terrie & Husband Roark Phillips of Fayetteville; Nephew: Jerry Wayne & Wife Donna Thrasher of Fayetteville. No visitation prior to the service.

Mr. James Dean Harmening

Funeral services for Mr. James Dean Harmening, of Satsuma, AL, who passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2009, will be conducted Saturday, October 17, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. graveside in the Flintville Cemetery with Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mr. Harmening was a native of Flintville, TN, the son of the late Guy Langford and the late Christine Speck. He was a former employee of Volkert & Associates and for Gulf Transport. Survivors include his wife: Sandra C. Harmening; children: Crystal (Troy) Harris and Bryan (Stacy) Harmening all of Saraland, AL; brother: Pete (Brenda) Speck of Flintville, TN; sisters: Susan Blaylock of Fayetteville, TN, Ina Rae (Wayne) Jacks of Fayetteville, TN, and Barbara (Marlon) O'Linger of Hampton, GA; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Ste. 509, New York, NY 10018.

Pogue, age 91, of Elora, TN, who passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at the Willows at Winchester, will be conducted Saturday, October 17, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in Pleasant Hill Cemetery with Bro. Cleo Moon officiating and Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mr. Pogue was a native of Taft, TN, the son of the late James Edgar & Mattie Mae Massey Pogue. He was a custodian at the New Market Elementary School until his retirement. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Mamie Lou Pogue; 2 daughters: Margie Hill, Patricia Pogue; 1 son: John William Pogue; 1 grandson: James Bryan Pogue; 1 sister: Louise Durham and 1 brother: Eugene Pogue. Survivors include 4 daughters: Joyce Boles of Elora, TN, Mary Pendergraft of New Market, AL, Linda Moon of Elora, TN, Barbara Peeler of Flintville, TN; 5 sons: Floyd Pogue of Elora, TN, Ronnie Pogue of Winchester, TN, James Pogue, Jr., Earl Pogue both of Hazel Green, AL, Charles Pogue of Big Cove, AL; 1 sister: Ezelle McNeese of New Market, AL; 3 brothers: Audery Pogue, Bill Pogue & Charles Pogue, Jr. all of Elora, TN; 20 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren.
