Hi

Came across this plugin and thought it sounded great, but it doesnt
work.

I have followed the installation directions and have the cron jobs
running but the Twitter Stats page does not show anything apart from
'Total Tweet' which does show some data, but not the correct data for
the account.

All the other stats do not show any data.

I have noticed in the public_reg.php file that you have hard coded
'mood_agency' as the $master_account variable.

Also, you reference a table that doesnt exist 'twitter_clientes' I
presume this should be 'twitter_clients'

Also, in my 'twitter_clients' table there are no entries for
consumer_key, consumer_secret, user_token or user_secret

What do I need to do to get this working?

thanks
Wes

Hi Wes.

By the description you gave us, we think you are trying to get data from public accounts. In order to get data from twitter accounts you need permission from the owner, if you are tying this, that is the reason why those fields you mentioned stay null on the table. In the case of public accounts (accounts that not necessarily give you permission, yet you can register them as 'public') you can't get every stat, the direct messages and mentions stats won't show because they won't mine data (have no permission to do so).

As far as why the other stats don't show, we recommend you to check the app access sub menu tab (in the upper right corner of piwik dashboard click "settings") to see if the configuration of the permission is correct, this is the general problem most user find when they first install Gall and we are working currently to make it easier and simpler to configure.

If the problem persists them we can always check your install, just give us an user name and password to your piwik and we will gladly check this issue and help you correct it.

Thank for contacting us and we hope this info can help you.

Hi Javior

I am trying to get stats for my own Twitter account.

I have followed the instructions and added my twitter account as a
public account.

Where is the option to set permissions for the owner?

When I click to add a 'private' account, I just get a blank page.

All adding a public account seems to do is insert an id and twitter
name into the db. The rest of the fields are null and I do not get
any option.

Clicking private does not seem to do anything.

I belive everything else (Settings -> App Access etc) is set up
correct.

Do you have any more detailed instructions on how to get this working?

Hi Wes.

You should not be getting a black page when you click on private account in the register page. It should send you to the twitter application page.
We strongly recommend you to check the installation steps again specially the one involving the twitterdatamining/configuration.php configuration step.

Is this persist, would it be possible to chat and have live feedback in order to help you solve the problem? check every step to see if something went wrong and what was it?

If the "Settings -> App Access" set up is correct and your getting redirected to a black page when you try to register a private account, them it could highly be a problem with the datamining files which is not very common, none other user has experience problems with this.

The code error you pointed out in your first message "Also, you reference a table that doesnt exist 'twitter_clientes' I
presume this should be 'twitter_clients' ", has already been pointed out for patching in the 0.42 release.

Hi Javier

Been through it all again and re-uploaded the files and went through
the steps again. Still getting a blank page on the private
registration.

Could there be a php.ini setting I need to adjust for this to work or
maybe file/folder permissions?

In the he configuration.php file, am I only supposed to add my
database credentials. Do I need to change the TW_MASTER variable from
mood_agency?

In the Settings -> Apps Access all I can do is select a Gall User and
the Gall Application, I suppose that is all I should be able to do.

Another thing I have noticed, on the main Dashboard I do not have an
option to add a Twitter widget like there is on the demonstration?

thanks
Wes

Hi Wes,

I'm Armando, one of the developers working on Gall, I'm supporting Javier with the problem on the Registration pages. We are already working on a version that will help adding public/private accounts easily. As for the TW_MASTER doubt:

The Twitter API allows users to pull information on public accounts a certain number of times (per hour) without the need of authentication, BUT that number of requests increases substantially when done through a Twitter App (Which is the reason we handle specific tokens when doing the account registration, and Gall is designed to work that way: To take advantage on more requests per hour since data mining is included).

Being that said, to use that high number of requests through the Twitter App, we need a private account authorizing the app, TW_MASTER is that account -The one used to pull info on public accounts through the Twitter App-.

Once you authorize the app to work on that private account (Whose tokens will be saved in the DB) change the TW_MASTER to that name.

Hope that helps a little bit, and soon we will add those websites for a easier handling on the addition for public/private accounts,

Regarding the Piwik/Gall doubt, I can't answer since I haven't worked on that while on the project.

If anything comes up, just let us know and we will gladly help you as much as we can!

Sincerely,

Armando J. Leon E.
