hi dear all,

This is the first time I use google alert and find it amazing!!
I have about 400 companies to follow and want to set them up in google alert. I can manually do it but I want to deliver it in a fancy way. is it possible to use some python package such as galert? Does google provide this kind of API for google alert?

I want it to send the news to my company mail box automatically.

Now I need to type in the key word and click the verified link sending to me. I don't want to repeat the steps for hundrand times!

Thanks a lot,

Joshua Bronson

Yes, that's the purpose of galerts.

They didn't at the time I authored galerts, and after a quick look at http://pythonhosted.org/gdata/, it looks like they still don't. So this excerpt from https://github.com/jab/galerts/tree/master/docs#intro would still apply:

Currently [galerts] resorts to scraping html from Google's web interface since there is as of yet no public API. If they ever decide to publish one, galerts will switch to using it, unless Google itself includes it in their gdata-python-client, in which case galerts will be obsolete.

(Just posted this in another thread but in case you didn't see:)

Would you or an organization you're working for consider sponsoring development of galerts? I'm currently unable to work on galerts without compensation, but could set up something like Bountysource to get galerts working again if there is enough interest in sponsoring development.

Best,
Josh
