Is anyone actually developing Galaxium?

I prefer it over any other messenger for Ubuntu.

Why?
Pidgin is ugly, has ugly sounds and bad display picture manipulation.
emesene is nice, but it's buggy with file trasnfers and also has bad
display image manipulation.
amsn is the best for gnome, but extremely ugly.
kopete is also very good, but for KDE.
Kmess is ugly, and for KDE.

So, Galaxium is working the best on my Ubuntu installation.
What I mind about it is next few things:

1. I want to disable only this terrible sound while signing in, but I
can only disable all sounds.
2. I want faster file transfers.
3. I want webcam sending and receiving.

This three thing would make it full featured messenger for all my
needs.
And maybe other would like multiple accounts support.

At the very end, I see that this application has very bright future.
So what's wrong with development?
Is anyone on it?

Yes. Two of us, actually. You'd know that if you actually *tried*
finding that out yourself before asking questions. ;)

a) try SVN version
b) if it doesn't support anything you want / need, just post a request
to the google code page... can you imagine everyone writing mails
about their missing favorite features? :D

It's open-source. Learn C# and code it yourself. :-P

I don't follow. What's wrong with multiple accounts support?

Nothing is wrong with it. It was just halted for quite a lot of time.
Now it's back on it's track, so be patient or help with it ;)

Down Jury! :P

Um, yeah obviously this guy wants a great IM program (dont we all?)
but is
more demanding great stability and full features.

We do this project in our free time, and we have fun doing it. We hope
that
it contributes to the experience of the GNOME desktop one day, or
more!

We have several bugs in the protocol handlers and user interface,
there is a
long issues list if you look right now. We have just started
development again
after a long needed break. We are currently adding one protocol for
Facebook,
we have upgraded to the MSNP18 protocol specifications in the MSN one,
and
the XMPP protocol has been completely re-done, with hopes to gain full
features.

The one thing you have to provide is help with debugging, finding
issues and
reporting them, and giving us constructive criticism for ideas that
allow us
to mold the app.

Otherwise everything just sounds like a demand.

Thanks for writing on our group either way!

Hi Phil (and other developers),

I don't know if it is the perfect place to ask for my wishes, but
maybe ;-)

So, I've noticed two things :
- in the buddies list, we don't see the whole personal message (it
demands on the size of the window). Is is possible, when we put the
cursor on the buddy, to have the full message ?
- when Galaxium disconnects (whatever the reason), is it possible to
try to re-connect after... well, 30 seconds for example ?

To be honest, theses wishes come from other IM softs ;-)

Thank (for all).

David.

P.S. : I know I have to report my issues but I have to do other
tries... ASAP ;-)

Well... probably not... :)

Both will be taken care of once we turn our attention to the user
interface, provided we don't forget about it... :D

I have some of these too. As far as the idea is good, there is nothing
wrong with finding inspiration elsewhere.

Have you reported, yet? :) It really does help to have all such
requests in one place...
http://code.google.com/p/galaxium/issues/list ;)

In fact, yesterday, I've reported directly to Phil because I was not
sure that my logs were really anonymous (any password for example ?).
Last year, he told me that there were some... well, personal
informations, in logs, so...
Can I make them anonymous to report normally ?

Thanks.

David.

Depends on what kind of issue you have. If it's a feature request like
this, you don't need any log. If you need to append a protocol log,
you need to know, if there are any sensitive information sent, and how
to recognize them. Generally, if you append only log that directly
displays problem you are reporting (and the problem is not in some
startup stuff) you should be safe. But you can always ask someone
trusted and familiar with the protocol to remove these information for
you, if there are any.

Hi,

Finally, it seems there was a little "bug" in my configuration files
[on two different computers !!!]...
I've erased everything and create a new connexion, and, now,
everything is OK (through the proxy or directly connected to
Internet).

Now, I have to resolve the apt-get build-dep problem...
The error message is really too... short ;-)
I'd like to know which files dependencies it needs...

David.
