to Galatians Bible Study
Brothers,
I trust you are growing in your walk with Christ.
I encourage you to join in and add to these questions in your personal
processing of Galatians 4:8-31
I am especially short on questions for the last portion (vss 21-31).
Logan (son) and I will be flying out to CT on Thurs morning, 1Oct, so
I regretably will not make the next study.
Here you go...
1) What is the flow of thought that brings Paul to remind the
Galatians of their past time of godlessness, subsequent salvation, and
final reverting back to the "beggarly elements"?
2) What states of "knowing God" did the Galatians come through?
What's the significance of Paul's correction in vs. 9?
3) What are the weak and beggarly elements? Why would anyone desire
to return under their bondage?
4) What does he mean in the observing of days, months, times, and
years?
5) Why is Paul afraid or alarmed? What could they do that would make
his labor to be in vain or purposeless?
6) Why does Paul make an appeal for them to be like him? What does he
mean by "for I am as ye are"?
7) Where is he going in his effort to pull them back when he contrasts
their past affection to their present attitude?
8) Why is he so personal? Why does he play that card?
9) How does Paul describe the real battle going on between the leaders
and Judaizers? What role do Galatians play in the battle?
10) Why does Paul want to be present with them? What difference would
that make?
11) In vss. 21-31 Paul makes a pretty poignant assertion/
conclusion.."cast her out with the son." Can you outline the
progression of logic Paul uses to get to that conclusion? How does he
connect the Judaizers with Ishmael?
12) How is this section different in purpose from the rest of chapter
3 and 4? Is this a continuation of that main purpose or a new
direction?
13) Review all of 3 and 4 with a summary of his flow of logic and
purpose. What is doing and how does he navigate the path to get
there? How does this position him to go into ch 5?
14) How is it going in memorizing ch 5? Still mechanical? Still
persevering in the process? Has there been good meditation from it?
15) Who do you think will be in the world series this year?
Blessings!
Justin
