You know how the systems in the game sometimes spawn radiation storms? What if they had a rare chance to also spawn a wormhole? Said wormhole would act as a temporary gate, and when entered, takes you you an instanced system. These instances could have a variety of challenges in them, for intance:
*A defense challenge where you defend a Monolith from the Xindo. You have a time limit and must keep the Monolith alive.
*A Super Elite Station for you to raid and clear the system out. Same as the above, only reversed. instead of defending a Monolith, you're attacking a Super Elite crossed with a Station and must fight your way through countless enemies in order to destroy the station.
*A huge fight between...let's say the Xindo and Pirates breaks out and you get caught in the middle of it. clear out all the stations(which will not respawn) and get a reward.
*Enter into a surprise boss fight against a Monolith Guardian. They decide to test you and you must beat them in a one on one battle(each person entering this wormhole will be sent to a seperate system). Similar to PvP, only with an enemy that uses either a complex, but set pattern, or an AI that mimics the tactics of players that have gone through this challenge before.
*Some sort of maze with a new enemy type, a stationary enemy firing out bullets in either a set direction, or firing out clusters of mines(bullets that stop moving after a while), all adding up to an obsticle cours you must navigate to reach the end and claim a prize.
These are just a few possibilities if such a feature were to be implimented. I would think instances would be leveled to your character, or have no level and enemies take and deal damage in set percentages. This would give the game a bit more depth and make the world feel a bit more alive. I think adding in a feature like this could seriously increase the re-playability of this game.
So, how hard would this be to imppliment? Also, would such challenges fit with the narative you're trying to write, and if not, how could they be altered to fit?
