Hello my dears!
Thank you all for your help in establishing our new commitment! I touched base with Jonathon on this and attached are the changes made based on your foundation. We still have more deliberation and final edits to make so please take this as our current draft.

Things you can note:
  • The shift minimum was dropped to 24 shifts instead of 36- this brings everyone to 72 hours per year. Laura relayed that the commitment for 15 year volunteers was dropped to 50 hours. Nonetheless, to be a diver your commitment is lower than the vol services commitment where each person can either pick up more shifts with the dive team or pick up shifts on the floor
    • The following are shifts with vol services that operate on a non-recurring basis that can be picked up on the floor.
    • - GP: Greeter

      - GP: Celebration Host (must have completed 6 FOH shifts since January 2021 and alert us to give them the assignment – primarily weekends – if no parties are occurring, they’ll be sent to be a greeter)

      - GS: Hospitality Host

      - GS: 4D Theater Host (this will go away when the 4D theater closes early next year)

      - ED: School Group Greeter
      - Any of the AWE events that occur…these are Aquarium Wide Events (ex. AquaVino, Science on Tap, the 5k, etc.) that require additional volunteer support. They are generally open to all volunteers for shift sign

  • Both commitments were compiled onto one doc. So those who are surface supply diving are required to do 6 dives a year. Those who are not are required to do 6 dives in a habitat that is not OV
  • The following was agreed upon:

Years of Service

Designation

Recurring Shift Allocation

0-3 Years

Level I

0

3-5 Years

Level II

1

3-10 Years

Level III

2

10-15 Years

Level IV

3

15 Years+

Level V

4

Dives that can be selected for recurring shifts are as followed: (these are the only dives where dates and times are not changed on the schedule)
Ocean Voyager
Beluga
Tropical Diver
Sea Lion
  • Level one divers will be restricted to no more than 3 OV dives per month on Volgistics- exceptions will be made for call outs via the google group.
I plan on sending out a survey very soon to get general availability of the team so that we can host an all team meeting to relay these updates and changes. Keep your eyes peeled!

In addition to that, here are the staff leads for each team.
MB: Jason and Jen
F&I: Carolyn & jessica
OV: Mel Paynter
I will be sending them/you an email shortly to introduce the team to our email relays and who is where.

I appreciate you all! Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns!
