Happy New Year to all! 2012 will be a great year for Gainesville
chess. Here is information for the first three months of 2012.

In this email:
1) North Florida Regional on January 14th: http://2012nflregional.eventbrite.com/
2) One-day chess camp on MLK Day, January 16th
3) Spring Grand Prix begins on February 26th
4) State Scholastic Championships on March 3rd-4th

1) Our first tournament in 2012 is the North Florida Regional
Scholastic Championships on January 14th at the Paramount Hotel in
Gainesville. Please visit http://2012nflregional.eventbrite.com/ to
sign up. This tournament is US Chess-rated, so will require a US Chess
Federation membership. Visit https://secure2.uschess.org/webstore/member.php
to sign up for a US Chess Federation membership. If you are unsure
whether your membership exists and/or is current, visit www.uschess.org/msa
and search for your name. This tournament is a qualifier for the
Florida All-Stars in early April!

2) Coaches Bill Barton and Aaron Barton are offering an exciting chess
camp on MLK Day, January 16th. This camp lasts all day and will
include small group lessons, problem solving, tournament games, and
lots of fun! Please visit http://www.gainesvillechess.com/MLKDayChessCamp.html
for full information. Bill and Aaron have enjoyed great success as
coaches in Illinois and we are happy to have them in Gainesville!

3) The Spring Grand Prix starts on February 26th and the other dates
are March 25th and April 22nd. Look for online sign-up soon on
www.gainesvillechess.com .

4) The State Scholastic Championships will be held in Miami on March
3-4. Here is the website, which hopefully will get updated by the
Miami folks very soon: http://www.fsclchess.org/FSCL2011/SuperState%20IX/SuperState%20Main%20Page.html

Please email me with any questions/concerns/suggestions.

Thank you,
Britt Ryerson
