Dear Gainesville chess parents,

Welcome to the new year!

The North Regional Chess Tournament will be Sunday, January 23. Remember that this is a rated tournament and you must be a member of USCF to play. We don't expect players to move up to higher grades. Online registration ends this Friday, January 21.

The state tournament in Orlando will be Feb 4-6 in Orlando. If you are planning to go to this, sign up soon before the block of hotel rooms closes.

Finally, all of the information for the Spring Grand Prix has been posted. These are the monthly, unrated tournaments. The first day of the grand prix will be Sunday, Feb 27 with online signup ending on Feb 25.

As usual, all information about these tournaments is at www.gainesvillechess.com
Let us know if you have any questions.

John

PS The Gator chess club was planning to hold a tournament on January 30 but this was cancelled. There are too many scholastic tournaments going during that time anyway. The UF Spring Championship will be on April 11.
