UF Fall 2011 Chess Championship on Sunday, October 16

The UF Fall 2011 Chess Championship will be on October 16. Everyone is welcome to play including children and parents. This is a rated tournament which means that you must be a member of USCF to enter. There are four sections: U900, U1300, U1700 and championship sections. Early registration rates end on Oct 7, prices go up after that.

Dear Gainesville Chess Parents, 

Congratulations to all the players in yesterday's UF Fall Championship. Thanks to Simon DeWitt for being the tournament director, and Britt, Dario and everyone else who helped out. Michael Kustanovich and Jindrich Zapletal split the prize money in the Open section. John Harris was first in the U1700 with Alex Sinnott, Nhan Van Le and (our club treasurer) Jared Carron in a three-way tie for second. In the U1300, the trophy winners were Randy Teague (1st), Nicholas Dang (2nd) and Daniel Min (3rd). We combined the U1300 and U900 sections, and the U900 trophy winners were Maya Harris (1st), David Liu (2nd), and Isabelle Tseng (3rd). 

The final standings are posted below. This is not yet on the gainesvillechess website but already up on the USCF site. 

Remember that Day #2 of the ACSCA Grand Prix is this coming Sunday.
