Exciting year for scholastic chess

Hello and welcome to the new school year! The Alachua County Scholastic Chess Association is looking forward to a great year. The National K-12 Championship takes place in Orlando, the redefined North Florida SuperRegional will be contested in Gainesville, the qualification-only State Championship is slated for Tampa, and the K-12 SuperNationals is reasonably close in Nashville, TN! 

Events in the immediate future:
  • Fall Grand Prix at Kanapaha Middle School in Gainesville- Sep 30, Oct 21, Nov 11

  • SuperGroup chess lessons for PreK, K, and 1st grade players at Logic Lab in Gainesville - Sep 16, Sep 23, and continuing in October

Events in the rest of the year (incomplete list, Spring Grand Prix TBA)
  • National K-12 Grade Level Championships in Orlando - Nov 30-Dec 2
             Check http://uschess.org/tournaments/2012/k12/ for full information and online registration.

  • North Florida SuperRegional in Gainesville - February 2-3
             There are now only 2 regionals for the entire state of Florida! This new event will be held at the Reitz Union on UF Campus. 

  • State Championship in Tampa - TBA
              You must now qualify for the State Championship at one of the SuperRegionals (or by being on USCF's Top 100 Lists). 

  • K-12 SuperNationals in Nashville, TN - April 5-7
              Join a large contingent from Gainesville at the biggest event in scholastic chess!
