The Water Policy Board meets tomorrow June 8 from 10 AM to 12 noon.  It will focus on long term water use for agricultural projects.  The location is the Straughn IFAS Extension Development Center, at 2142 Shealy Drive (off Archer Rd between 13th St and 34th St).

Agricultural irrigation is the big, consumptive, and not always cost effective user of water.   Of all the main uses (residential, industrial...) agricultural use may be the most elastic use as the new farm bill, severe drought and other forces change the water supply scenario.

Water for agricultural irrigation is not only free, it is also un-metered.  This may not be an effective approach to conserving the resource.

If you are interested in water resources, you might want to attend.  The meeting is open to the public.

Please distribute this message to all concerned.
