The Gradual Vegetarian

Free Cooking Class with samples

Instructor: Stefanie Samara Hamblen

Alachua County Farmers Market / 441 Market

Saturday March 31, 2012

10am-11am

Michael Pollan says “Eat food.  Not too much. Mostly plants.” but how do you do that?  Learn how to start with Meatless Mondays and move forward though the week with less meat and more variety.  Try different herbs, spices and textures that remind you of classic flavors.  Sharpen your taste buds with old favorites from other cultures, made new for today!  Class will be about 30 minutes, with samples afterwards.

Stefanie Samara Hamblen owns Hogtown HomeGrown and The Illegal Jam Company, teaches classes for CHOICES of Alachua County, is a founding board member of Blue Oven Kitchens and a member of Slow Food.

The Gradual Vegetarian is a program designed to teach cooking skills along with healthy food choices.  It was developed by Hamblen to easily help farmers market customers who simply want to eat more veggies and less meat.  Previously presented for audiences at the Haile Farmers Market and Archer Ministerial Alliance, Hamblen will also present The Gradual Vegetarian at the Union Street Farmers Market in Downtown Gainesville on April 4th at 4pm.  That demo will be a part of the 16th anniversary celebration for the Union Street Farmers Market.
