I found it easily, using the finder chart from
http://cometwatch.co.uk .
You don't even need to be in an area without trees, because the Big Dipper
is big enough and bright enough to be seen through moderate tree cover,
and if you know the direction from the Dipper to the comet you can just
walk around until you get to a place where the trees don't hide the comet.
I mentioned "NW" in the subject, because if you're in SE Gainesville you
may find that the city's light pollution obscures your view of the comet.
