I have exported my trip out of Gaia and imported it into Google Maps.  However, the single trip is shown as dozens of shorter tracks in Google Maps.  How do I merge these all together to create a single track?

David,

You might try GPSPrune (activityworkshop.net/software/gpsprune/). This free software is great, not only for merging tracks, but for all sorts of GPS data manipulation. I frequently use it to clean up those stray track points that result from loss of GPS signal. The user guide is a good and highly recommended investment at $9.

Hey David,

Not sure if this will work or not, but I've used this for various things before: http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/convert_input

I'm curious why you don't want them to show up separately? Does this effect how the tracks show up in a menu, or on the map?

Regards,
Andrew

I took a train from Los Angeles to Seattle and chose to track the entire journey on Gaia because I knew we would be going out of areas with cell coverage.  It worked perfectly.  Now I want to display the trip in a Google Map and share it.  When I import the kml file into Google, it gets parsed into pages and pages of individual tracks, each about 20 miles long.  You can view it at the following locations:  https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msa=0&msid=213302643689970657189.0004df00e58aeac589529

I am a novice at this, so please let me know if you have a suggestion as to how best to accomplish what I am trying to do.

Try EveryTrail.com... if you go sign up for an account, you can then directly post your export from Gaia to there. I think if you do the Export All, and choose the EveryTrail option, that will group all the tracks into one "Trip" on Everytrail, along with any photos. That will give you a link you can share, which shows Google Maps and the overlay.

I can't recommend cloud.gaiagps.com for this yet, as it will only show one track on a map. But I'll keep this in mind to fix there too.

Thanks.  I am already an EveryTrail user, so I will go that way.  What I like about Google Maps is that I have several other maps saved there.  I appreciate your suggestions.
