I was under the impression that a kml file attached to an iphone mail/
email could be saved and associated or loaded to Gaia GPS, without
having to use itunes on a computer to move the file.
However whenever I tap or tap hold the attachment, all I get is a
message that Mail cannot handle the file.
I have tried Ifile, DropBox and SaveAttachment iphone apps, and none
seem to be able to trigger an option to save the file and/or then
execute it with GaiaGPS.

The kml file came from Google maps.

If I move it to the iphone via itunes it works fine. But the process
is very slow, for my needs.

Can anyone tell me how to get the email attachment of KML file to work
with GaiaGPS on an iphone, using the Mail application and any other
iphone app?

Thank you.

Hey RiverOtter,

If you are using the Store version, then the KML attachment is bugged. We just noticed that last week too, and our current beta version has it fixed. That should be live next week.

In the meantime, can you use the GPX file?

A. What do you mean by "the Store version"?
B. When / where does a GPX file fit into this? I create a KML, and
want it to go directly to GAIA GPS. No GPX involved.
C. Afraid I posted this issue again today, because my search for
responses didn't even find the original post, so I thought I had to
post the problem again.

Hey RiverOtter,

Sorry for the confusion on this:

1) We have a current live store version, and a beta version going basically at all times.

2) I was confused by your email because we actually had 2 KML issues - the KML export didn't work,. and the KML imports didn't work by email attachment. Both are fixed in our beta test version now, and will be posted to the store in the upcoming release.
