cancel download

Is there a way to cancel a download? I started a big download that I
would like to cancel but can't figure out how on my Droid razr. I
tried deleting the map but it won't delete while the download is
going. So now it appears I must wait for the download to finish before
deleting it...

Hi Chris,

You are correct, there is no way to cancel a download currently.  However, I think this would be a good feature for our app to have.  Would you please post this idea on our UserVoice page? Be sure to mention that you would particularly like this feature on the Android version of our app.  If you post your idea on our UserVoice page, other users can comment on it and vote for it, which helps use to tell if other users would like this feature as well.  Also, if we decide to develop this feature, we can let you know via your UserVoice post.

I am sorry that we do not currently have this feature.  Please add this idea to our UserVoice page, and let me know if you have any other questions, comments, or concerns about Gaia GPS.

Hi Savannah,

I will post the feature request to the UserVoice page. 

My trouble in the mean time is that I tried to do a rather large (600MB) topo download, and the download is frozen/hung at 70%. It's been hung at the same value for over a day now, with Gaia GPS using ~50% of my droid cpu resources. Because of this, my battery is draining about every 4 hours. Unless I can figure out how to cancel the download/delete the download I cannot even open and use Gaia GPS. Every time I do it tries to resume the frozen download and pegs the cpu again...

Is there a workaround?

Hi Chris,

I do not know of a workaround but I have emailed our developers to see if they know of a way to cancel a download.  I will let you know what they come up with.  Again, I am very sorry about this issue and its effect on your phone's CPU.

Hey Chris,

I think you can do the following:

1. Go to Saved, and select the maps tab.

2. Press and hold the map that is currently downloading.

3. A dialog will appear - choose Pause.

From there, the download will pause, and you should be able to delete the map if you wish.
