Hi,

Thanks for pushing the beta version forward. I have one bug report and the other is suggestion.

1) beta doesnt show Max Speed; Elevation gain seems to record less than the official version(I have version 4.1) (I hiked a hill up and down a lot).

2) I like official version the way displaying the track. In the map area, it has two icons (one is displaying the hill and the other displaying the clock). I like most is the charts displaying both speed and elevation profiles in a single chart and can zoom on it.

Question: going forward, when will the beta version and official version converge? As the beta version user, will get update for official version(now is 5.0)?

Thanks
Ming

Hello Ming,

Thanks for the report on the beta.  I will look into max speed not showing.  Calculating elevation gain is tricky, because there is some amount of smoothing that must be done to get an accurate number.  I believe the algorithm we are using is still the same as it was in 4.1, but i will take a look.

As you have noticed the way that stats are displayed for the currently recording track has changed dramatically since version 4.1, the current design is not final, and will likely change in future versions.  You can add more stats to the map by long pressing on the tab above the stats.  Currently graphs are not an option in that location, but we may add them in the future.

The plan going forward is that the beta version will be at or ahead of the main version.  Beta 0.16 is the same as 5.0, and 0.17 is 5.0.1.

Happy Hiking,
Jesse Crocker

I have some observations on the latest version.
These are using a Samsung Galaxy S4.

The compass is waaay too small, almost illegible even with reading glasses.

The map pins are waaay too big, just give us dots or some choice of waypoint icons so
we can identify different feature types. And pin shadows...what's that about, entirely unnecessary.

Why can't we delete some base map types? I have no need for US aerial photos or Open Cycle.

You need a crosshair in the middle of the screen where we can center the map and create a waypoint.
It's easier to do that than drag those huge pins around the display.
Also, there should be a coordinate readout display for that crosshair map center.

How do I set the app for magnetic north, true north, or grid north?
There needs to be a choice for that somewhere.
Also, a choice for "north up" or "track up" while traveling.

This should be as customizable as possible with no undesired items.

 Thanks
Michael Grady
