I notice that with 5.6.1 on a Nexus 7 (2012) tablet, the map displays very slowly, or sometimes not at all. So I pinch fingers to shrink the map, and sometimes a few tiles show up, then much later others show up. I was having a lot of trouble when walking, because the acceleration sensor wanted to make it vertical or horizontal, depending on how it got moved.

So finally I disabled the auto-rotation function on the Nexus 7, which helped a lot. At least the maps would stay displayed most of the time.

What is causing it to display so slowly or not at all?

Thanks,
Steve

Hi Steve,

I think it might be network issues. Have you tried downloading the map before you go out? Or testing it at home while on wifi?

Hi Anna,

My tablet doesn't have cell phone access, so the maps were all downloaded. I had Strava going at the same time, so I wonder if that's part of it. Maybe I can't run two things at once. I'll try it again without anything else next time.

Also I could reboot it (turn off, then back on) to make sure nothing was slowing things down.

At home, it seems to work well, but I'm not moving much -- small house!

Well, I tried it again on a walk around town, and it worked great this time! So it must not be a software problem. It's probably something wrong with my tablet.
