Well, this is a bummer - this is the only reason I bought this app! =\

I can DL the other file types (that are smaller in size), but when it comes to the MapBox aerial images, the program just hangs. Seems to do so mainly on ~1gb+ file sizes. I have managed to get to 10% on a 600mb aerial as I type this, after several tries with modifying the file size/tile count. If I can get it to work this way, I'll just DL the map I want in segments. This is on a factory stock Galaxy Tab 2 7".

Also...I'm wondering. I've never seen the beta versions of other software be marketed as separate software that you have to buy...so I'm wondering, what will happen to this version once the changes are rolled into the *real* app? Will this one become obselete? Will we be able to DL the *real* version for free since we already paid for the app? It's kind of confusing, as usually beta test versions roll over into the final version, but here they're separate. Please clarify...thanks!

Sorry about that, this is our new beta app, so we're working all the issues.

All changes from the beta version get rolled into the main app.

The beta app is vastly different from the regular app, only right now, because we are in the middle of a major rewrite. Within a month or so, I think we'll ship the beta to the regular app. At that point, the beta will just have a few differences from the main version, whatever we happen to be working on.

Here's my blog post about why we do it that way now: http://blog.gaiagps.com/gaia-gps-for-android-open-beta/
