After many tests using different phones and both builtin and external receivers we have proven that in all cases the Gaia app shows distance traveled as 20% greater than actual.  We have confirmed the actual distance using other apps and all are within .05 mile of actual.  The people in the group using external GPS receivers very close to actual in other apps.  Those using the builtin GPS on their devices are not as close but usually within .05 mile.  Gaia consistently shows 20% higher - one one 2.95 mile distance Gaia showed 3.6 miles.

Is there a beta with this fixed?

If it makes a difference most of us have monthly subscriptions to the gaia maps and would like to keep using Gaia - the UI is the best of any similar app.

Hi Michael,

I'd believe we're overestimating. and we'll take a look.

The next major release (looking like this week), adds Folders and Timeline. We'll look at tracking isues for the release after that.

Regards,
Andrew
