GAIA delete downloaded map issues

platform: Samsung Galaxy S4 Active running Android 5.01

Files saved to SD card

I have several downloaded maps that I want to delete.

When I go to Maps and select one, hit delete, then confirm the delete, is says it is deleting it.

The delete screen never stops (I left it running overnight once).  I have to hit the back key to get out of the function.

When I return to the Maps screen the name of the map is still there, although in a grey colored font instead of black.

How can I go about totally deleting these downloaded maps?
