Hello everyone!
Just found out about this… It’s short notice to try to arrange anything significant, but if any of you would like to set up something that our Geography Program and/or GEO Club could sponsor, let me know! If not, I just wanted to let all of you know about this.
Campus Sustainability Day: October 26, 2011 - "Higher Education Moving Sustainability Forward"

How will you celebrate the power of the sustainability movement on your campus this year?
Since 2003, Campus Sustainability Day (CSD) has
been a time to focus the national eye, and our campus communities, on the
success of the sustainability movement in higher education. Together,
we’re moving society forward into a sustainable future. As individual
campuses we are strong, but as a movement, we are stronger still. The exciting
and inspiring history of campus sustainability day can be found here.
CSD is a day of focus. Focus on what has been accomplished. And, on what is needed to maintain momentum. Emphasis on connecting to new groups and allies on campus, highlighting student stories, planning for the future, and reaching out to partners who can help move towards success. CSD is devoted to the achievements of, and challenges for, the students, faculty, and staff who are contributing to a more sustainable future through instilling sustainability principles, policies, and practices into their institutions of higher education institutions and the surrounding communities. Individual campuses and organizations will plan their own events, programs, and initiatives and post them to this dedicated CSD events listing.
We’re asking you to plan an event and commit to a shared challenge, to highlight the success of our collective achievements by participating in the national webcast, and raise the bar on the continued imperative of sustainability leadership in higher education as we move into the next steps forward together.
Second Nature, Inc. invites campuses to participate in a new resource to foster dialogue, connection, and conversation on campus around the importance of sustainability in higher education – Campus Conversations: A Useful Education: Sustainability in Admissions, Retention, and Educational Value. This interactive webcast and live Q&A will pose the question: In a time of increasing focus on the value and use of a college education, how are sustainability and climate programs offering prospective students and their families, as well as enrolled students, the opportunity to engage in a useful, innovative, and valued educational experience? Campus Conversations will provide a short webcast to spark conversation, engagement, and inquiry into the concept of sustainability as a core facet of a useful education. Then, share your opinions and insights, and see feedback from across the country, by participating in an interactive dialogue with video responses from students, faculty and staff, and admissions staff. Click here to register your campus.
Please let everyone know what is happening on your campus or what activities your organization has planned to celebrate Campus Sustainability Day! Events do not necessarily have to take place on Oct. 26. We would like to invite you to include all events happening this fall that are related to and will celebrate Campus Sustainability Day:
See http://www.aashe.org/campus-sustainability-day for more info and a list of what other campuses are doing.
Thanks!
