US EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT BRIEF ALCOHOL INTERVENTION DISAPPOINTS IN FIRST EUROPEAN TRIAL

The first European trial of an emergency department brief alcohol intervention being implemented
nationally in the USA found no significant impacts either short term or a year later, and in the
major US trial there were short-term impacts only. Generally this site for brief interventions has
patchy evidence of effectiveness, though in Britain different types of interventions have worked.
