An issue has been identified with certain installations of the Pulse Secure Desktop client on Windows 10 workstations that significantly impact network performance. The issue does not impact all users; it appears to be limited to specific network adapters. The issue has been identified to impact some wireless/wi-fi adapters but may express itself on some wired adapters as well.

Do you have any document or guide on how to depoy pulse secure client for Autopilot over VPN scenario ? I am trying to use Autopilot with pulse secure client however I couldnt find much info regarding it. Your advice would be much appreciated.

Overall, Ivanti Secure Access' capacity to combine employee protection and network management is the main draw of using it as a security solution. As a desktop application, it is simple and effective, connecting devices to the corporate network for ease of access. Its lack of configuration, when compared to Cisco AnyConnect, may be considered either a point against it or in its favor.

When deploying Junos Pulse desktop to end-users, if the Junos Pulse client is pre-installed on Windows OS and an image is created from this, which is shared across multiple endpoints, then the local machine ID that gets stored in the Junos Pulse Connection Store configuration data file will be the same for every machine that the image is used on.

The Junos Pulse Secure Access Gateway Series device identifies user sessions that connect with the Junos Pulse clients by the local machine identifier, which is sent to the server, when a connection is established via Junos Pulse. The Junos Pulse Secure Access Gateway Series device will terminate a Junos Pulse session, if another Junos Pulse session is started with the same guid value, for security reasons.

To determine if Junos Pulse users in your environment are affected by this issue, collect the Junos Pulse logs and diagnostics logs from the Junos Pulse client, from each individual client PC. Open the logs and Diagnostics folder from the user's PC and browse to the ConnectionStore folder, which will contain the connstore.dat file. Open this file with a text editor and locate the following parameter:

As required by the May 24th Pulse Connect Secure VPN server upgrade, Windows users connecting to an on-campus device using a Terminal Session will need to upgrade their Pulse Connect Secure client. The upgrade process involves two steps:

The UF Health VPN client uses your myUFL (Gatorlink) username and password to authenticate you. It then creates a secure channel between your remote computer and the UF Health network, and routes all traffic to and from UF Health through that channel. The VPN will allow you to access UF Health systems as if you were onsite.

To be able to access resources in UF Health from the Cisco AnyConnect client, you must use vpn.ufl.edu as your server address and your username must be formatted as: user...@ufl.edu/health

If you are only using Remote Desktop to connect to your onsite computer, you might consider using mydesktop.shands.org to start your remote desktop session. This method does not require a VPN Client.

By default, macOS may let you install applications from verified sources only; consequently, when you try to install Ivanti Secure Access, you may see an error similar to "ps-pulse-mac.dmg can't be opened because it is from an unidentified developer." To bypass this error (for this application only) and manually install Ivanti Secure Access:

By logging into the Web VPN website, it will not provide full VPN access. Users will not be able to access internal campus resources unless users connect using the VPN client. If the only access needed is to internal websites or remotely connect to a Windows computer, users can utilize the Web Bookmarks or Terminal Services within the VPN Web portal.

I get error 2738 when installing Pulse Secure on my Windows computer
Error 2738 may be due to an earlier install of MacAfee, Kaspersky, or AVG AV software. This is a known issue and can usually be remedied by temporarily disabling the AV software while you install Pulse Secure. If this does not resolve the problem, (or none of the AV software mentioned is currently installed) it is recommended to run the MacAfee removal tool (or the AVG/Kaspersky removal tool), reboot your computer, and then try the Pulse Secure install again. You can reenable the AV software once you have successfully installed the VPN client software.

Multiple users report intermittent disconnects with the Pulse Secure Desktop client. There is no specific interval when this issue will occur as it will depend if the multiple user are attempting to login to the computer with the same machine guid.

This issue will occur when Pulse Secure Desktop client is preinstalled on a base image which is used to deploy to multiple machines. If this is true, the local machine ID stored in the connection store file may be the same on multiple machine.

When a Pulse Secure Desktop client connects to the PCS device, some session data is sent including the local machine identifier in the connection store file. The Pulse Connect Secure device identifies each user sessions by the local machine identifier and expects this value to be unique. If multiple connections are sending the same machine identifier, the PCS device will terminate the oldest session for security reasons.

#2 Use Orca to modify the Pulse.msi and change SHAREDINSTALL from 0 to 1. Reinstall this modified client using a simple script or your desktop management software.
