WinZip is a trialware file archiver and compressor for Microsoft Windows, macOS, iOS and Android. It is developed by WinZip Computing (formerly Nico Mak Computing), which is owned by Alludo. The program can create archives in Zip file format, unpack some other archive file formats and it also has various tools for system integration.
From version 6.0 until version 9.0, registered users could download the newest versions of the software, enter their original registration information or install over the top of their existing registered version, and thereby obtain a free upgrade. This upgrade scheme was discontinued as of version 10.0.[6]
To prioritize the development and support of newer versions, WinZip regularly phases out older versions of its software. As a result, technical support for retired versions is discontinued. However, self-service support through the knowledge base is still available. Visit our support page for more information.

Yes, the latest version of WinZip is fully compatible with both Windows 11 and Windows 10 operating systems. This means that you can install and use WinZip on your computer running Windows 11 or 10 without any compatibility issues.
If you want to use WinZip to unzip files, you can download a free trial of the software. This will give you access to all of the features of WinZip for 21 days, including unzipping files. However, once the trial period is over, you will need to purchase a license to continue using WinZip. So, if you only need to use WinZip for a short period of time, the trial version can be a great option.

I checked C:\ProgramData\Kaspersky Lab\AVP20.0.0\Data\patchmanagement\download_storage' & the folder is empty. I get no prompt to update WinZip. I uninstall WinZip 24.0 & reinstall licenced version 23.0 anywhere between 5 pm and 10 pm one night & at some point before 9 pm the next day, Version 23.0 is gone & trail version 24.0 is installed. It has happened pretty much daily for the last 2 weeks, possibly longer than that.
I still have winzip 18 and refuse to upgrade any further since I have seen nothing in the upgrades to produce more security. I thought about 7-zip but there were a lot of cautions on the info page so I decided to stick with winzip.
My need is to zip and unzip files and folders and sometimes create a password protected zip file and if 7-Zip can do everything that WinZip can do in that regard then I may either keep my copy of WinZip 19 or switch to 7-Zip if someone can give me a reason to do so. Since there is a 7-Zip beta though, I would like to know more about that if someone has any details. Thanks.
Windows does almost all the Zipping I need.
If I need to create a zip with a password I use 7-Zip.
7-Zip also creates a self extractor if you use the 7z format and it can open lots of other archive types, even ISO.
Where 7-Zip falls down is use, it is not intuitive for me and I usually have to think carefully about what I want to do.
We used to use WinZip and bought one for each PC up to v9, after which the massive cost decided us to go for 7zip instead. I pushed this out and did my best to remove Winzip from the PCs (this predates KACE so wasn't all too successful, it left the Add Remove entry)
I'm trying to create a Software item to filter for PCs that actually have Winzip. So far so good as I am checking for programfiles\winzip\winzip32.exe but is there something I can check to see if the installed copy is the registered or eval version?
Customers who purchase a multi-user license will receive a unique WinZip.wzmul registration file which must be copied to a WinZip subfolder in the Windows Common AppData folder. This folder contains application data for all users. For Windows 7 and Windows Vista, a typical path for the WinZip.wzmul file is C:\ProgramData\WinZip. For Windows XP a typical path is C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\WinZip. The presence of WinZip.wzmul in this folder will convert WinZip to a licensed, registered version.
When you upload software to oldversion.com you get rewarded by points. For every field that is filled out correctly, points will berewarded, some fields are optional but the more you provide the more you will get rewarded!
WinZip 25 (Build 10661) delivers an entirely new, Office 2010-style, user interface and unveils numerous key features that dramatically simplify the product. See What's New in WinZip 25 for more information.
Important: If you are a registered user of a previous WinZip version, please note that you are about to overwrite your registered copy with WinZip 25 , which will run in unregistered, evaluation mode until you either enter a new registration code or revert to your previous version. For help with trying before buying, visit the Upgrade Information page.
I am having a hard time getting my WinZip installation to recognize the WinZip.wzmul Multi-User Registration File. I am on a Windows XP and have put the WinZip.wzmul inside of C:\Program Files\WinZip. However, when I start WinZip by going to Start -> WinZip 15.0, it says this copy of WinZip is not yet registered, and that I need an registration/activation code. This webpage says that the presence of WinZip.wzmul in this folder will convert WinZip to a licensed, registered version but this is not the case in this situation. Any recommendations? Thanks.
I dont know if this still holds true, but in the past all you had to do was double click the .wzmul file to register. I would keep the .wzmul file with the WinZip MSI file on a network share, and after installing WinZip from the MSI, I would double click the .wzmul file and that would complete the registration.

I just downloaded the Big Sur and now it seems as though everything is messed up. I rely heavily on my winzip app for sending protected information for work and it does not open for me at all now. Also, my scanner crashes every-time I try to scan more than one page.

WinZip Mac 8 is not yet supported on macOS Big Sur 11.0.1. We do not work on operating system updates while they are in development. Mac has officially released the latest OS only recently and Our developers need time. They will work with WinZip and find the issues it has with Big Sur, then they will create a new, updated release of WinZip.
I just walked through different trouble shooting ideas with apple support and we did not find a resolution. I have had a ticket submitted with Winzip since Friday morning and have not received a response other than an automated response saying that they are responding to a higher volume of tickets.
