Hello everyone ! I'm very glad to be part of this group, i started to use Gaffer since few weeks and i LOVE Gaffer.

Can someone tell me if it's possibile to save render sequences in EXR multiplayer format?
I have the setup to export the batch files (separately) but i don't know if Gaffer support multilayer EXR file.

Also is not very simple to understand how to use Renderpasses and RenderpassesWedge nodes. Can someone explain with some screenshot?

Thank you in advance i'll go deep into Gaffer documentation and tests.

Hi!

At present I don't think you can render all the AOVs out of Cycles in to one EXR file. But Gaffer's ImageReader and ImageWriter nodes have full support for multi-part EXR files, so it is common to use those to post-process the render into whatever form you want. This is also useful when renderers prefer to write tiled files, but certain compositing programs prefer scanline.

We are lacking documentation on the Render Pass side of things, but a reasonable place to start would be the file at Help > Examples > Rendering > Render Pass Editor. That example is Arnold-centric, but the core principles apply to all renderers...

Cheers...
John

Hi John, thank you very much for your kind reply and i'll check the example you suggested !
I can confirm that, for now, the batch rendering with separate AOVs is good anyway for compositing in Fusion: metadata for cryptomatte, position pass and other render elements are saved and useful.

I'll need more info also regarding Context, Scopes and Sets. If there are some video tutorials about this topics, are much appreciated. In the meanwhile i'll play with embedded examples in Gaffer.

Thank you again
Cheers
