Gaffer AppleSeed and VDB

Heya!

Is there any way to render VDB volumes with appleseed inside of Gaffer? If so - is there any examples?

I would think volume rendering is not supported inside gaffer with Appleseed, there are no volume shaders even. Also Appleseed itself doesn't mention VDB support at its website.

I might be wrong though.

If you want a free opensource renderer with VDB support inside Gaffer I would have a look at GafferCycles https://github.com/boberfly/GafferCycles

I don't think any of Appleseed's volume rendering capabilities have been exposed in Gaffer yet. The Appleseed integration was contributed and maintained by the Appleseed team, but hasn't received any updates for quite a while now I'm afraid...
