Hello All,
I was wondering if there is a trick to be able to use the <udim> token in the filenode for Arnold? I'm currently using 0.26.0.0 and Arnold 4.2.14.3. I can't seem to get it to work.

regards
stefan

p.s. I haven't forgotten about the cameras.

Hi Stefan,
This should just work, since the substituion is something that happens within Arnold rather than within Gaffer. I've attached a working example setup, which is a simplified version of the standard tutorial scene from the documentation. It uses an Arnold "image" shader created via the Arnold->Shader->Image node menu item. Could you let us know if that works for you?
Cheers...
John

Hello John,

I'll test it at work again. At home on my iMac it just crashes..

It took forever before I realised that on El Capitan's latest updates they have removed the possibility of using DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH due to a new security blabla.. Here is a thread I found about it: https://forums.developer.apple.com/message/35499#35499

And if anyone runs into this the magic command is csrutil disable and should be run in recovery mode. Restart with command - r, once recovery mode is running open a terminal and type in the magic command, then reboot.

The crash looks like it has to do with Arnold, I'm not sure.

The very advanced polyplane and award winning UV work  renders fine in Maya at least (attached to this email).

just to confirm, yes it does work. At work everything works (linux), at home gaffer seems not as stable on os x as on Linux... but that is non important :)

OK, glad you've got it working on Linux.

Are you running the same Arnold version on OSX? I'm running an older version of OS X right now, and an older Arnold, and can render the UDIM test without problems, so I can't reproduce it here.

Cheers…
John

I'm running the same Arnold version. The system is quite fresh so there might be some hidden dependency's that are needed. It's Arnold that crashes the whole time.
