Hello everyone,

a colleague of mine introduced me to this group and I am glad it exists! I am using gaffer at work and want to advance my skills a bit by testing it in my freetime as well.

Unfortunetly I run into the same errors when I start it and am not able to see the "3D viewer" for example. I reinstalled it multiple times and updated my Microsoft Visual C++ file as well. I hope you are able to help me with it.

Thank you very much in advance and I wish a great start in the day!

Best wishes,
Marvin

It looks like the errors are coming when trying to load various aspects of 3Delight support. Do you have 3Delight installed? My guess is that you haven't, but that for some reason Gaffer things you have. I'll mention this to Eric, who knows a bit more about the Windows side of things than me...
Cheers...
John

Hey John,

Thank you very much for the fast reply! I just checked and had 3Delight installed but deleted it as a test. Unfortunetly the error is still the same. I am happy for any other help! :)

Best wishes,
Marvin

If you've had 3Delight installed, it's possible that it's set an environment variable to point to the 3delight install, and that env var is still around ( which would make Gaffer think it should be trying to load 3Delight )? I don't really know much about how env vars get set on Windows.

Hey Daniel,

After removing 3Delight and with a fresh restart it finaly works and I have just a small bunch of warnings left. Thank you very much, it helped a lot! :)

Best wishes,
Marvin

We've had another user report that error as well. Are you on Windows 11 with the latest release from a few weeks ago? I believe a change in that update may be the cause of this. If you can, give the latest Gaffer release a try : https://github.com/GafferHQ/gaffer/releases/tag/1.5.1.0. It has a fix in it that I'm hoping will address this. Unfortunately I can't coax my secondary machine to update to the latest Windows 11 update yet, so I can't test it for myself.

I now tried to bring my Arnold into Gaffer and run into this issue:

WARNING |  Gaffer.dll was compiled against non-compatible Arnold 7.2.1.0
WARNING |  Gaffer.dll was compiled against non-compatible Arnold 7.2.1.0

ShellExecute 'c:/Program Files/gaffer-1.5.1.0-windows/gaffer-1.5.1.0-windows/bin/../doc/gaffer/html/index.html' failed (error 2).

I tried already 2 other Arnold versions but it didn't work out. Do you might have an idea? Shouldn't the node "ieDisplay" be already a part of the package?

Thank you very much in advance!!!
