Hi Guys,

Is there any roadmap to update Gaelyk for java 8 runtiime support?

Google is warning us that java 7 is obsolete...

I 'm worried about my gaelyk 2.1.2 (gae 1.9.20 sdk) apps stop working on January 16, 2019: https://cloud.google.com/appengine/docs/deprecations/java7?hl=pt_BR&_ga=2.217068182.-1276775550.1417469753

What should I do?

Hi Serge,

I've upgraded my Gaelyk apps to Java 8 without a problem, by just adding <runtime>java8</runtime> in the appengine-web.xml.

Using wich Appengine SDK version?

I tried using gae 1.9.20 sdk but gradlew appengineUpdate did not recognize this tag: <runtime>java8</runtime in the appengine-web.xml.

Too old. You need to use a recent gae sdk. Like 1.9.63 for example

I tried, but my gaelyk app crashed when I tried just to change gae sdk to 1.9.63, so I think Gaelyk should release a new version packing everything.

The last 2.1.2 stable version " was tested with Groovy 2.3.0, and with the 1.9.20 version of the App Engine SDK.".

Of course, I forgot to mention that I also upgraded to a recent SDK version as well.

It all went transparently without an issue for my apps.

But yeah, we should certainly make a release with upgraded deps :-)
