Dear all,

We are experiencing difficulties with using the Beacon API at the university hospitals in my country, due to the legal experts that claim it`s not safe enough and does not fulfill the new GDPR legislation. Has anyone experienced the same, and have some good advice to get around this problem? Any documentation that can convince them it`s safe enough?

Thanks in advance, and kind regards!

Hi Eva,

I’m looking for someone to advise here amongst our European collaborators, who have more experience with this type of institutions. I’ll connect you when I identify the right person.

In the meantime, it would be helpful if you could share some more information about the issue. For example, I don’t believe we’ve encountered GDPR issues with Beacon as the specification itself, and a lot of it depends on the actual implementation you’re running and the environment you’re running it in. What specifically was flagged as an issue? Are you using a particular open-source implementation or building a beacon from scratch? What country is this taking place in?

Thank you,
Miro
