I will be conducting MTB rides on the 15 mile paved Landen CSA hiker/biker trail system thru out this Fall/Winter.  I've created multiple configurations with rides lasting 1 to 2 hours.  Configurations can include an optional road climb up Old 3C highway if desired.

Any MTB will work but hard tails (preferably with lock-out suspension or full-rigid) would be the weapon of choice.   Gravel rigs may also work so long as tire width is 50mm or above.

Attached is one out of several affordable tire recommendations the 1'st being the Continental Double Fighter III which is available in 26 x 1.9 thru 29 x 1.9.  This tire is fast on pavement and gravel.
