Two of us Landen locals started off the ride and later were joined by a smack-taking tag-along. We rode Landen east, west and then climbed up to Kingswood Park. There we were able to add another 1/2 mile to the course by pulling together sections of the hard-packed XC Ski trail.
On the way back, the tag-along (riding a 29er HT) kept lampooning our "Obsolete" full-rigid 26er bikes so Kurt and I decided to make our move on the tight/twisting single track long North Shore.
The short wheelbase and maneuverability of our "Obsolete" 26er bikes made quick work out of the 29er as we proceeded to drop the tag-along by at least 20 bike lengths between the gazebo and the dam.
After the short climb to the top of the dam, we lit the afterburners along Landen Drive and dropped the 29er for good. Out of sight/out of mind.
The fast-rolling Billy Bonkers tires (pictured below) worked exceptionally well on the XC Ski trail at Kingswood and will enable us to add more unpaved sections to the Landen XCP rides in the future.
Retro out.
