Ride #6 – Same set up as last week. The long ride is about 72 miles. There will be a gas station stop in Fayetteville, which is before the halfway point. There is a cutoff route for those who want to go shorter (46 mi). That route is posted as a separate Club event, but we will all roll out together. Temps look like 40’s at start and maybe 50’s by end, though there might be a little water on the roads from overnight rains. Keeping the start time at 9:30 AM. Please download the route you would like to do. The split happens just before we get into Fayetteville. After that, the long ride becomes a 'no wait' ride so that we can maintain a steady and consistent pace. Winter pace is highly encouraged. I get lots of questions about what that means. Last week, we had what I would call a ‘normal’ ride aside from a bit more wind that we typically see. I am 6’ 3” and weigh 85.3 kg. We averaged 19.8 mph, and I had an average normalized power of 236 W. So for me that is ~2.8 W/kg which is a typical “C” class ride on Zwift. We could maintain conversations during the ride, but definitely felt the miles later in the day. I hope that helps. Long ride here: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/53276937. And the shortened version is here: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/53276640. Hope to see you out there!

Sean, thank you for reaching out to the greater cycling community on this group chat but an average of 19.8, particularly in “offseason “ is not something people on this group do with any regularity in “on season “. If that’s your norm then perhaps you should direct interested people to a link for those rides.

Hi Paul,

Already doing that. I've been posting on G4B, Strava and our team chat group. That about covers everyone I know who rides. In the older days, there were plenty of G4B folks that could throw down with the best riders in the city. It's easy enough to keep throwing a post here in case someone becomes interested. I suspect speeds will drop with the temperature. You never know...
