Yours truly along with 2 guests from CCC did a grand tour of the Landen hiker/biker trail system, Kingswood golf cart trails, and Long Cove loop via Mason shared-use pathways along Irwin-Simpson and Mason Montgomery Roads.
Pathways were relatively dry with the usual patches of wet Goose Shit along North Shore.
The 15-20 mph tailwind pushed us up the pathway climb in front of P&G but was totally in our face on our return trip back down from Long Cove.
Post-ride discussion was about the popularity of the 1990s XC bike Resto-Mod movement nationwide. With only a change of tires, these bikes are transformed into formidable XCP/Street-Ripping machines. Using a Vintage XC frame as a platform, one can easily build a Street-Ripper/Urban Assault bike for under $1000 USD.
Coming in 2026: Pilgrimage to Bentonville, Arkansas. The mountain bike Mecca of North America. This 7 day trip will occur in either late August or early September.
Retro out.
