Approximate Dates -- August 2014 through late Fall

A research study is hiring Student Assessors to administer standardized assessments for a study that investigates how California's Transitional Kindergarten Program is affecting student success in kindergarten.

STUDENT ASSESSOR POSITION

• Administer standardized student assessments to kindergarten students
• Assess students approximately 20 -- 30 hours per week for approximately 8 weeks
• Pay rate of $26 an hour

QUALIFICATIONS

Required
• BA/BS degree in psychology, early childhood education, child development, a related field or equivalent knowledge of early childhood education
• Experience working in school environments with students between preschool and 3rd grade
• Bilingual and bi-literate in English and Spanish (in majority of sites)
• Strong interpersonal skills with both adults and preK -- Kindergarten age children
• Willingness to work in unfamiliar neighborhoods and school settings
• Access to a reliable computer, high-speed internet and strong computer skills
• Valid driver's license, Proof of auto insurance, access to a reliable car, and ability to travel throughout the county and surrounding areas
• Ability to work well independently and under the direction of project coordinators
• Ability to work between approximately 7:30 am and 2 pm (20-30 hours/week) during data collection
• Ability to attend a multi-day, paid training, dates to be determined
• Must pass certification for administering assessments and maintain reliability
• Must be detail oriented, highly organized, able to follow standardized procedures, and committed to the study
• Must participate in weekly, scheduled contact calls with SRM staff
• Flexibility to assist project coordinators with special projects during study
• Must complete and pass criminal background check

Preferred
• Master's degree in early childhood education, early intervention, educational psychology, developmental psychology, or related field.
• Experience administering one-on-one standardized assessments with Pre-K to elementary school age children
• Recent DOE security clearance (criminal history check) and TB test
