Hi everyone,
Kira was asking some questions about the Praxis and I thought I would go ahead and forward what I have to everyone that you could use (or not) to get ready for the exam. I looked at the "Topics Covered" of the PRAXIS II Study companion to help me prioritize which classes to study. I spent 1-2 hours/day during the week for 1 week plus 2 weekends to study. I made notes of which instructors/classes that covered those topics and saved thing like case studies that required more memorization for last. There were not any actual tests like the WISC, etc on the test, but there were some on the practice test.
Before I studied, I organized my binders and took the online practice test cold turkey. I did not do well on it (63 or 69% - I can't remember exactly). After I studied, I got somewhere around 90%. I used the paper version the second time I took the test so I could see the answers right away to help reinforce the things that I still did not know well. I cut/paste and sorted the questions that were on the practice test into categories, so I have attached both versions. I recommend still buying the online practice test ($18) because it is helpful to get know the test format. I finished with about 45 minutes to spare even after reviewing the questions I marked to go back to. I have attached the electronic info I have that may be helpful. This isn't anything that you can't download yourself. The cut/paste of the practice test and answers plus sorting them into categories was a little labor intensive, so this will save you that effort;) Know the names of the people and the case law that is on the practice test and in the guide. Those are the only 2 things you need to memorize. You do not need to know actual tests on the exam. Good luck everyone and stay in touch!
