Dear friends,

Audru Kool

Audru School (Audru Kool - AK) is a primary school situated in Audru, a small village in the south-west of the province of Pärnu. It is a public school with about 250 pupils aged 7-16 which offers education to different levels of ability. AK is a small school in a rural area, within easy reach from Pärnu, a nearby town.
Our students are from various social background and therefore have different interests and possibilities. Our school's top priority is to create equal possibilities and conditions for everyone to get the best education available. We put a lot effort in guidance and support to teach children in a caring and secure environment.
We also aim at providing many extra after-school activities. Sports activities, different kinds of projects (media, nature, social projects), theatre trips, creative activities (art, music, theatre) are organised to develop each child's unique skills. Students can take active part in school life by being a member of the school student council.

We want to take a volunteer to our organization to broaden local youngsters and people`s understanding of different cultures and nations. Increase tolerance and open mindness. Bring freshness to our organization, new ideas and experiences through volunteer. Learn through that experience and if possible to improve the work of our organization.

Volunteer will live in Pärnu (http://www.parnu.ee/lang/eng/ ) and comes to Audru by bus (it takes 15 min to drive). Volunteer will live in a hostel in a single room. (there is a bathroom in his room and possible to use kitchen). He/she will have a local bank account where on the 5th date each month he/she will receive pocket and food money.

Volunteer will receive 32h of estonian language classes in the beginning of the service.

* The volunteer is gone have a mentor outside of the organization and a tutor (youth worker). He will participate in all the activities of the workers and events of the parish. For example celebrating workers birthdays, Christmas parties, trips etc. He is going to have a road-trip around the parish and be showed some other schools, kindergarten and youth centers in the Audru parish and county of Pärnumaa. He will be involved in some Estonian/Audru parish traditional events like for example celebrating School 75th birthday, Christmas week, Estonian independent day, school Song Day etc. If the volunteer wants he can join our hobby classes.
In the center of Audru there is a local doctor appointment. If the volunteer have any medical problems he can visit doctor. In case of crises he can always contact his mentor, tutor or local constable. We will try to involve him in a community life so that he will have more acquaintances and local people will embrace him quicker. There will be an article about him in a local newspaper and we will involve him in different community activities and events.
We will prepare our community and organization members for the EVS volunteers before their arrival. We will do everything we can to make him accepted and embraced in the community. We will inform our local constable and medicine worker about his arrival.
We will not expect too much from the volunteer right away. We will also consider the culture differences and personal problems.

Learning points: – During his time as a volunteer he will study: a) how to organize events, b)how to be a team leader. C)how to motivate students to participate in the events D) how to make idea to concrete actions.

We would like to welcome a volunteer who is open-minded and likes to communicate with children and young. There is possibility that he could make a hobby course and teach something creative (dance or art or cooking or…) and be able spend some playful time in after-lesson-class.
