Since this is a new site for all of us, let's introduce ourselves so we know who's here. Please describe your line of work too.

I'll get the ball rolling with my introduction.

I've been a freelance writer since 2008 and I started in the content mills. I'm no longer working the mills and have several private clients. I'm also interested in government contracting.

My background is HR so I currently write resumes for ClearPoint, SEO blogs for small businesses, copywriting, web content, and I do some editing.

For fun, I'm a Master Gardener, I quilt, crochet, hike, and read a lot.

I've noticed that when I write these things down on paper, it sounds pretty boring doesn't it?

Not boring at all! I've been getting into gardening this last year. Well, building things for my wife's garden, anyhow. I built a 4x8 raised garden bed a few months back. Funny thing: A client needed a  step-by-step guide "How to build a raised garden bed from start to finish" yesterday. Needless to say, that was an easy one to write.

It sounds like you've got a nice freelance career setup. I love to see that. Pretty nice having the freedom to write from home, Starbucks, Italy or the Moon if it had Wi-Fi.

Hi all,

I am a stay at home/homeschooling mom, relaunching my career as a writer. In the past I was the assistant editor of Vassar College's alumni magazine, and I did pr and wrote articles for two newspapers and a large chamber of commerce. I have also blogged on and off for the past several years. Currently, my husband and I run a CSA farm in the Finger Lakes of NY and I do all the marketing and Pr for that, which includes writing the newsletter, designing the website and logo, and doing all the book work, as well as working part time as the marketing and communications director for an executive coach.

So, I am glad to know you all and I look forward to asking and answering questions and making some good money as a freelance writer!

In my free time (ha, ha - I have 6 children), I mostly read, although I do crochet and cross-stitch from time to time.

Until later,

Jessica

Hi Jessica, nice to meet you! Sounds like you're pretty busy even in your spare time especially with 6 kids. Yikes!

Check out Mike's post on job sites to help you with your career. I especially like Brett's site to look for writing opportunities.  Good Luck!

Hi all. This is a great forum! Love it. I'm Iva and at the present moment I'm a  full time hairstylist, part time writer, the latter I don't get paid for yet but I'm working on changing that. I have been a writer for over 5 years now though I'm not sure if writing goodbye letters to exboyfriends behaving badly counts. ;) I have published my first little ebook The Shear Truth and run a pretty fun blog. (you can check it out at ivaursano.com. I also guest post often on Steve Aitchison's Change Your Thoughts site. I have set my goal for this year to be : retire from hairstyling and just write :). Thanx for having me on board. There is tons of fantastic information on here. Thank you for sharing so much!!

Welcome Aboard, Iva! And thank you for introducing yourself to the group. I love your experience in writing 'goodbye' letters to ex-boyfriends. We have to start somewhere, right? And we're supposed to make it emotional! Ha! Congrats! on your eBook. I haven't done one yet, but I've heard it's fairly simple.

Looking forward to interacting with you!

Hi Iva!

I stopped by your site and I love your energy and passion. You are truly a giving person! I love Feng Shui too, but I am nowhere near the level of knowledge with it that you have. You should write a book about Feng Shui for writing spaces. :-) How to focus and not get lost in negative thoughts, or how to arrange your space so your confidence and ideas don't go flying out the window or rushing down the stairs. I would love to read that!

So, welcome to the family!

~Jessica
