Matter of taste i think, for me Bliss is the only usable launcher for Android. I tried a lot, i just find all of them so ugly and non intuitive. If there was no bliss i probably did not use /e/! But it would be nice to include Trebuchet into /e/ also, to make everyone happy.
I installed Bliss OS 11.11 on a 256 GB Samsung FIT drive, so I can plug it in the surface and use android (windows touch control kinda sucks). It worked fine after I installed it, but after moving the firmware files needed for the touchscreen, I rebooted the device and then the grub bootloader was stuck at "Detecting Android x86............." (Even waited for 2 hours, but still nothing.)
Adding another optional solution, because even though the most voted solution (written by JAGJIT DHALIWAL) helped me, it didn't do the whole job.
When trying to install android x86 8.1 (oreo) the suggested answer didn't do the trick and the my android VM was stuck on GUI initialization, after viewing this video my problem was solved.
I've found something that might help you. I recently installed androidx86-9.0-rc1 as a dual boot (unlike you), and I too faced this same problem that it booted for the first time just fine but gets stuck in subsequent boots.
So I tried uninstalling and reinstalling it to see what's wrong and what I found that when I am on Windows and if I try to switch to already-installed androidx86 [by choosing restart option in Windows/by entering BIOS from Windows and then booting to androidx86], it gets stuck [and gets stuck in subsequent times too, once you did such].
Supposedly you're on Windows, and say you want to switch to androidx86 [newly re-installed, not the one that got stuck], so don't restart Windows; just shut down the PC and power it on to boot to androidx86. Just note that this is my observation only for the dual-boot case,
