Who are you ?

I know of you yet I don't know you.

Is your organization willing to contribute to FLNW2 in some way ?

If not...why not ?

Do you believe that the future of learning in a networked world is a
bleak one.....a souless online virtual connection, a facile attempt to
build community where only self serving individuals oscillate in ever
increasingly smaller circles with shorter interactions and a senseless
lack of 'human-ness ?

This is a fascinating list to be a member of, you never quite know what little gems are going to pop out as displacement activities, core business, dreams, stimulation or fantasy.  :-)
.
Just to avoid extra mail, 1) thanks to the comments about my web 2.0 stuff, I will reply in due course - and yes to both suggestions - done the talk, fun . .  . 2) thanks for the help with wikis.  Still looking for a MW installation with a wysiwyg editor I can look at.   Busy with a deadline in 48 hours, then "whew!!" I can relax.  ie the weekend.

But this post!!  I should be sleeping, but I will respond.  I just could not believe my eyes!!

While this is addressed to Bron, it does come via the list so I suppose I can answer.

Who is Bron?

Bron is one of my friends, who I sometimes call up long distance to chat with whenever she goes a bit quiet.  We have drunk quite a lot of wine together (but I must admit I am not sure of her preference for red/white).  We have sung in a monks choir in a conference centre in Sydney.  Plus at least 15 cafes and superb eateries at about 10 conferences.  This is a little more than the facebook version of friendship.

I did think of Buckminster Fuller's definition:

"A self-balancing, 28-jointed adapter-base biped; an electro-mechanical reduction-plant, integral with segregated stowages of special energy extracts in storage batteries, for subsequent actuation of thousands of hydraulic and pneumatic pumps, with motors attached; 62,000 miles of capillaries; millions of warning signal, railroad and conveyor systems; crushers and cranes (of which the arms are magnificent 23-jointed affairs with self-surfacing and lubricating systems, and a universally distributed telephone system needing no service for 70 years if well managed); the whole, extraordinarily complex mechanism guided with exquisite precision from a turret in which are located telescopic and microscopic self-registering and recording range finders, a spectroscope, et cetera, the turret control being closely allied with an air conditioning intake-and-exhaust, and a main fuel intake." but this is far too reductionist for my way of thinking.

Bron was with one of the organisms that supported FLNW 1, but it doesn't exist any more in a serious way, having ceased as a functioning entity on 1st September after dying a slow death over the past 9 months.  I don't know about the answer to Q2 and 3 with her current connections - I am presuming you mean contribute with cash.  She fits into a few categories that are rather special, but I won't mention in a public forum.

But I do know the answer to question 4.  It is 'No'.

Off for a rest now.

Indeed.

So all we need is your logo and your web address, your name added to
the FLNW2 TCC online conference list and some extra advice to add to
Mark's;

I think we are now starting to cut through the bullshit a little
further now and getting down to why we really actually think
personable arguments and humans drinking far too much red wine in
places that welcome such behavior makes sense.....although we arent
going to get far on $200 USD around Thailand....perhaps that dosent
matter lol.

I'm looking forward Derek to finding out more as to whether your
organization has purchase in discussions beyond geek week tech speek
and more into actualizing social accord in a glocalised context using
networked learning.

I suspect the answer will be as rewarding as the last.

:-)
