Hi Everyone
It is very exciting for me to be able to inform you that we have now released the first version of FutureDairy’s Management Guidelines for pasture-based AMS farms. As far as we know this is a world first - no one else has developed such a comprehensive set of guidelines for pasture-based farming.
It will be quite obvious to most of you that the switch to automatic milking has the potential to dramatically improve labour and lifestyle but it does involve many changes to the management system. The guidelines provide the practical information needed to adapt a dairy management system to suit an AMS. The guidelines will also help many people to be more informed on the realities of AMS farming. As farmers contemplate the potential for AMS within their own system, being informed will ensure that accurate expectations of the technology and system performance will be generated.
Dairy farmers can be confident that following the Guidelines will work, as they are based on both scientific research and experience under commercial conditions.
The independent research, carried out by the FutureDairy team at the AMS Research Farm at Camden, NSW, has shown that an AMS operating under commercial conditions can achieve efficient pasture utilisation, which is the key to on-going profitability for Australian dairy farms.
The AMS Guidelines can be downloaded from the web: www.futuredairy.com.au. For more information or feedback, please don't hesitate to contact me. Please feel free to forward this email to friends and colleagues that you think might benefit.

Kind Regards
