I just wanted to let you know about a series of free soil workshops that we are offering at the moment via the AHDB funded GREATsoils project at the moment in case you are interested in attending. The programme is as follows:
GREATsoils: Amendments for soil health and weed suppression - Dorset - 25 September 2017, 10.30-3.00
- Looking at the use of soil amendments to improve soils and crop growth and suppress weeds.
- Chance to see Dorset Soft Fruit blueberry production using deep wood-based mulch and assess its contribution to moisture retention, growth and yield.
- Interactive session on assessing soils to guide decisions on growing and cultivation.
- Anna Becvar of Earthcare Technical on Soil Amendments to improve soil fertility, condition and drainage. Anna has extensive experience of delivering advice on farm:
soil management, NVZ’s, fertiliser and organic manure nutrient management and recycling materials to land.

GREATsoils Field Lab third meeting: Amendments for Soil Health in Top Fruit, Oxon – 2 October, 12.45-5.00
- Updates on soil amendment trials from different growers, comparing amendments such as woodchip, biochar, composts, mycorrhiza etc.
- Dr Paul Alexander, soil scientist at RHS Wisely, will discuss findings of a long-term trial with various soil amendments for horticulture.
- Field walk through the orchard at Le Manoir.

- Opportunity to see how Anglia Salads is approaching the challenge of managing soil health while maintaining year-round supply of salad for supermarkets.
